Smiles For Anna
Smiles For Anna
Bean Bag Tournament Registration
*Registration for Bean Bags and Dodge Ball is due April 18th
Gardner-South Wilmington High School (GSW) staff and students invite the community to participate in “Smiles for Anna” an event to benefit 4 year old Anna Arrambide, daughter of veteran GSW teacher Jennifer (Wzorek) Arrambide and her husband, Eric. Anna was recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. The benefit will be held Sunday, April 24, 2016, at the high school located at 500 E. Main Street, Gardner from 11am-4pm
The event will consist of a 5Krun/3K walk, Bean bag tournament, Dodge ball tournament, a Fun Fair, bake sale, basket raffle, silent auction, Princess Meet and Greet, and food.
Proceeds will help the Arrambide family offset Anna’s ongoing treatment at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn and transportation expenses. Although Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia is a very treatable and curable cancer, Anna will undergo over 2 years of treatment for her condition.
Since 2005, Anna’s mother, Jennifer (Wzorek) Arrambide, has hosted a walk each year to raise money for the American Cancer Society as GSW’s Student Council Adviser. Now the high school wants to help her family in their time of need. “It’s now time for the high school and their entire community to rally behind Anna because now she needs us,” says Angel Dallio, one of the event organizers. “Jen has spent most of her teaching career promoting cancer awareness and fundraising, and we want to answer the call and join forces for her family.”
