Matthew Jerbi
Matthew Jerbi represents the class of 1991. While at GSW Matthew was very active.
He was in National Honor Society, basketball, baseball, cross country, math club, art club, and boys club. In addition Mathew was a class office for three years and was the class valedictorian in 1991. Matthew was an Illinois State Scholar, a National Merit Commended Student, and was included in the Who’s Who Among American High School Students.
After graduating from GSW in 1991 he attended the United States Naval Academy
continuing his education with the Navy where he received his Masters Degree from the United States Naval Postgraduate School.
Matthew served on many ships before he served ashore as a Maritime Warfare Instructor at Surface Warfare Officers School. As an officer he served at the Pentagon in Washington DC.Matthew currently holds the rank of Captain and is the Commodore of Destroyer Squadron 7, which is part of the 7th Fleet of the Pacific Theater.
Throughout his distinguished Naval career, Matthew has received a number of awards:
Meritorious Service Medal
Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5 times)
Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal
Captain Matthew J Jerbi is currently stationed in Singapore.
