For our students.

If you need to speak with your school social worker, you may do the following:

- Stop by before school, after school, or during your lunch period.

- If you need to see me during the day, go to your class period, check in with your teacher, get permission and a pass to come to my office.

Help and Crisis Lines

"Someone is bullying me."

The difference between someone being rude, someone being mean, and someone being a bully:

Rude = Inadvertently saying or doing something that hurts someone else.

Mean = Purposefully saying or doing something to hurt someone once (or maybe twice).

Bullying = Intentionally aggressive behavior, repeated over time, that involves an imbalance of power.

When determining if a negative interaction with a peer can be considered bullying, ask yourself if it meets the A, B, C, and D criteria of bullying.

  • A- Aggressive: The person attacks you physically, socially, or emotionally.

  • B- Balance of Power is Unequal:  The balance of power is usually unequal. For example, they are bigger than you, older than you, or perceived to be more "popular" than you.

  • C- Consistent:  This has happened more than once over a period of time.

  • D- Deliberate: The person did this with the intent to hurt or harm you.

If you feel like this is happening to you talk with a trusted adult, your school worker/ counselor, or principal to brainstorm ways to deal  with this type of situation and decide whether or not to fill out a Bullying Referral Report
